A great help to my husband
Got one of these to help my husband, who has disabilities from back surgery and diabetes and has both pain and weakness in his legs. This worked so well to help him get up from sitting position and to help steady him while standing in the bathroom, bedroom, etc. that we now have four, one in each room he spends time in, so I don't have to carry from room to room. My husband is about 300 lbs. and this has been wonderful. Not difficult to put together, but the instructions are very small pictures only.

Independence
I had a bad fall 6 weeks ago and I needed assistance whenever I was in a sitting position. After surgery I had a knee brace and crutches and I wanted to be more independent so I found different items on your website but this one was just right. I can take it anywhere I want to by my bed, chair and in the bathroom and its helped a lot when getting out of the bathtub. It didn't take long to put together. I'm so happy I can do more for myself now.

Does work with a Sleep Number Bed
I have a Sleep Number bed and the traditional bed rail will not work. This does because you are pulling it toward you when arising from the bed. I do not use it for any other purpose but I'm sure it would work great if you were having trouble getting up from a chair. It is sturdy and very well made. I have back problems and need some assistance to get up from a prone position.

Does it need to be assembled?
A shopper on Feb 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It comes with a number of large metal tubes that fit together with nuts, bolts and small metal washers. Then there are some plastic pieces that fit at each bottom. I am a 59-year old woman who put two of them together with a small electric screwdriver for my 86-year old mother. Each took me about 30 minutes to assemble using the instruction sheet. It's not complicated, just labor intensive. The electric screwdriver helped enormously. My mother needed these to help her stand up from her kitchen chair after returning from several weeks in physical rehab because of a fall. I will also tell you this. The down sides to them is she needed two -- one for each side of the armless chair. And also they extend on the floor maybe 8" beyond the chair on either side. This may keep it sturdy but I've already tripped over it when entering her kitchen. Now I wish I had just purchased a kitchen chair with arms instead!
will it tip over?
Dottie S on Sep 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We did not find this helpful for getting out of chairs. We are using it near the toilet because my husband had a problem with losing his balance when standing. It does not tip in that use.
could it tip over while getting out of bed?
Dottie S on Sep 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It is pretty stable. If you use it to stand, it should be good. I don't think it is made to pull yourself out of bed though.
Can this Chair Support be used to transport in/out of motorized hospital bed that has springs in the base of the metal bed frame?
TERESIA P on Sep 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. This is a portable chair support that will work as you can move it from place to place. We hope this information will be of help to you.
