As good as prescription socks. Be sure to get open toe!

Comments about Compression Open Toe Knee Highs, 20–30 mmHg:
I must say that I didn't like the first pair I purchased as a test. I accidentally purchased the closed toe, and they were flimsy. They didn't hold up well when washed, and the stitching came apart. This pair was open toe. MUCH BETTER! Easier to get on (as are open toe socks) and thicker material. They even have extra bands of reinforcement on the top hem, heal, and ankle. I haven't washed these yet, but I get the impression from the better construction that they will last! AND they are one third the cost of prescription socks. I just hope this isn't a fluke. Will I get flimsy open toe socks next time I order? PS: Don't get this amount of compression unless you have had a PRESCRIPTION to do so!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Best for the $
These aren't as thick as the $90 ones I buy from the medical supply store here in town, but they seem to work as well. I can get 3 pairs for the price on one here! I'm going to buy three pairs right now.
